Synchron supplies, installs and manages MailStore Server licences. With MailStore Service Provider Edition (SPE) we offer a hosted email archiving service. We archive Exchange, Microsoft 365, Zimbra and IMAP mailboxes.
Email archiving with MailStore
MailStore makes email archiving software. MailStore Server is built for small and medium-sized organisations and supports 5 to 2,000 users per installation. It needs no separate database server. Synchron supplies MailStore licences, installs MailStore Server and runs the archive.
Licence supply
We supply MailStore Server user licences and the Standard or Premium Update & Support Service.
Installation and migration
We install MailStore Server and bring existing mailboxes and PST or EML files into the archive.
Hosted archive (SPE)
With MailStore Service Provider Edition we run the archive on Synchron infrastructure. Each customer uses a separate archive instance.
Retention policies
We set retention periods and legal hold rules according to the retention and disposal policy of your organisation.
Fast access
Users reach the archive through the Outlook add-in and web access and restore an email with one click.
Audit and security
The archive uses SHA hash values and AES256 encryption. The auditor user type and audit logs track access.
Which systems do we archive?
- Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft 365: mailboxes and journal archiving. Microsoft 365 users are synchronised to the archive.
- Zimbra: Zimbra mailboxes are archived over IMAP. Many mailboxes are archived in one batch from a CSV list.
- IMAP and POP3 servers: email servers with standard IMAP and POP3 access.
- Google Workspace: Google Workspace mailboxes.
- Files: email files such as PST and EML.
Users are synchronised to the archive from Active Directory or LDAP. Deduplication and compression reduce the storage needs of the archive.
Data protection and retention periods
Retention policies keep emails for the period you define and delete them when the period ends. Legal hold stops the deletion of emails under review. We set the retention and deletion rules according to the personal data retention and disposal policy of your organisation under KVKK or GDPR. The policy and the periods are the decision of your organisation.
Hosted email archiving
For organisations that do not want to run a server, we offer a hosted archiving service with MailStore SPE. The archive runs on Synchron infrastructure as a separate instance for each customer. You choose the data center for your archive: Istanbul, Kyiv, Strasbourg or Amsterdam. It works together with our business email and hosted Exchange services.

We back up your Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Teams data to a backup repository outside Microsoft 365. We restore deleted or damaged data from backup.

Synchron provides licenses and subscriptions for Microsoft (CSP and SPLA), Proxmox, Veeam, Acronis, MailStore, ESET, Bitdefender, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Netwrix, Adobe, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, Cisco, Aruba, MikroTik and Neat products. The team that sells the license also handles installation, renewal tracking and support.
Frequently asked questions
How many users does MailStore Server support?
MailStore Server is built for small and medium-sized organisations. The manufacturer supports 5 to 2,000 users per installation. For larger or multi-customer setups, MailStore SPE is used.
Can you archive Zimbra mailboxes?
Yes. MailStore archives Zimbra mailboxes over IMAP. We archive many mailboxes in one batch from a CSV list. IMAP access must be enabled on the Zimbra server.
Should we keep the archive on our own server?
There are two options. MailStore Server runs on your own server. With MailStore SPE we host the archive on Synchron infrastructure, and each customer uses a separate instance. You choose the data center: Istanbul, Kyiv, Strasbourg or Amsterdam.
How long are emails kept?
