QNAP
Synchron installs and manages QNAP NAS devices, the QTS and QuTS hero operating systems and the Hybrid Backup Sync backup application in local backup and enterprise file server projects.
QNAP products
QNAP makes network-attached storage (NAS) devices, storage expansion units and networking products. We install and manage QNAP products. We use QNAP NAS devices in local backup and enterprise file server projects. We install the device, configure the storage and backup structure and run its daily operation.
We use QNAP devices as a backup target, a file server and virtual machine storage.
QNAP products we use
Business Storage
Rack and tower NAS devices for businesses. They give hybrid HDD and SSD storage.
Enterprise Storage
Enterprise storage devices such as all-flash NAS and dual-controller NAS.
Expansion units
SAS, SATA, USB and PCIe JBOD units increase the NAS capacity.
Networking
Switches, SD-WAN routers and QuCPE virtualization equipment.
Surveillance
Video recording solutions with QVR Pro and QVR Surveillance appliances.
QNAP operating systems and software
QTS
An operating system of QNAP NAS devices.
QuTS hero
A QNAP operating system that runs on the ZFS file system. It gives copy-on-write snapshots, data integrity checks with checksums, inline deduplication and compression. With redundancy, it repairs corrupted blocks automatically.
Hybrid Backup Sync 3 (HBS 3)
It backs up data to local storage, a remote QNAP NAS and cloud services. It gives multiple versions, encryption and compression before transfer and source-side deduplication with QuDedup. It writes immutable (WORM) backups to a QuTS hero device.
Qsync
It syncs files between devices.
Virtualization Station and Container Station
They run virtual machines and containers on the NAS.
QNAP with Synchron
We run QNAP projects from the needs analysis to daily operation. Scope of the service:
Model, disk and OS selection
Model, disk and operating system selection by capacity, user count and the systems to back up
RAID and storage pool
RAID and storage pool design, shared folder permissions
Snapshots and restore
Snapshot schedule and file restore process
Second copy with HBS
A second copy with Hybrid Backup Sync: a remote QNAP NAS or cloud storage
Sync with Qsync
File sync with Qsync
Firmware updates and disk health
Firmware updates, disk health monitoring and troubleshooting
Our services with QNAP
We install and manage QNAP products in the following services:

Local Backup
We keep backups of your servers, virtual machines and applications on local disk or NAS storage. We send one copy to a separate target to apply the 3-2-1 rule.

Enterprise File Server
We set up a corporate file server and design the folder structure and access rights for your organization. We also manage backup, remote access and capacity planning.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between QNAP QTS and QuTS hero?
QuTS hero runs on the ZFS file system. It gives data integrity checks, inline deduplication and compression. QTS is the other operating system of QNAP NAS devices. We make the choice by the device model, the memory size and the data protection need.
Where does QNAP Hybrid Backup Sync send backups?
HBS 3 sends backups to local storage, a remote QNAP NAS, rsync, FTP and SMB servers and cloud services. It keeps many versions and applies the retention period by a rule.
How is a backup on QNAP protected against ransomware?
QuTS hero snapshots keep a copy of the files from an earlier point in time. HBS 3 writes immutable (WORM) backups to a QuTS hero device. We keep at least one backup copy at a separate location or in the cloud.
What does QuTS hero deduplication need?
According to QNAP, inline deduplication needs at least 16 GB of memory on the device. We turn on deduplication only for folders with much repeated data, for example virtual machine storage.
Is a QNAP NAS used as a file server?
Yes. A QNAP NAS manages shared folders and user permissions. Qsync syncs files between devices. In our Enterprise File Server service, we design the folder structure and permissions by the structure of the company.
Do you give support after the QNAP installation?
Yes. Within our Local Backup and Enterprise File Server services, we monitor the backup jobs, plan firmware updates and follow disk health. When a fault occurs, we work on site.
